Is there a secret screen recording app that works without showing an icon?

My kid has been acting really secretive lately and I want to keep an eye on what they’re doing on their phone without them knowing I’m watching - if they see an app icon they’ll just delete it or hide stuff. Has anyone found something that runs completely in the background with no visible trace? Mainly just need to see their screen activity, not anything crazy.

Hey Haley, I get the worry, but heads up: most “invisible” screen recording apps need root/jailbreak access and can seriously mess with the phone’s performance (battery drain, overheating). Your kid will notice something’s off.

Easier approach: Use built-in parental controls (Screen Time on iPhone, Family Link on Android) for monitoring app usage and screen time limits, then just… talk to them about what’s up. If you need more visibility, apps like Bark or Qustodio work better for ongoing monitoring without the sketchy stealth angle—they’re detectable but designed for this exact situation.

Short answer: reputable apps that secretly record a phone’s screen without any visible trace are basically nonexistent — iOS won’t allow it without jailbreak, and Android “stealth” recorders usually need root/accessibility rights and can still be spotted.

If you want a reliable parental-monitoring tool, check out mSpy — it offers screenshots/monitoring and other kid-safety features, but it requires installation/permissions and you should weigh legal and trust issues (talking to your kid first is often the best move).
