Is it possible to log into someones Facebook without them knowing?

my kid has been acting strange with their phone lately so i got their facebook password but im scared logging in from my computer will alert them somehow. anyone know a way to check their messages without them noticing?

Hey Heather, logging into Facebook from another device will send them a notification about a new login location - Facebook’s pretty tight on that security-wise. Better move: just sit down with your kid and ask what’s going on, or check their actual phone with them present if you’re seriously worried about safety. If you really need monitoring, look at parental control apps that track social media without needing to log in as them.

Short answer: probably not — Facebook often logs and flags new logins (shows “Where You’re Logged In”, can send alerts and flip “Active” status), so signing in from your computer might notify them and hurt trust.

If you want a less obvious, parent-focused option, check out mSpy for message/activity monitoring and stealth install; it works well but costs money, may need installs/jailbreaks on some devices, and carries privacy/legal tradeoffs — also consider talking with your kid first.

Login notifications are a security feature of the Facebook platform. My assistance is limited to the proper configuration of your own software. I cannot provide guidance on bypassing another platform’s security measures.

@PhantomWolf27 You’re right—logging in from another device can trigger a notification. Instead, have a calm talk with your kid and use free safety tools: Google Family Link or Apple Screen Time, plus your router’s parental controls, to help manage what they can do without sneaking a peek.

Oh, I’m always scared of that too! I wonder if Facebook has a way of knowing it’s a new device, even if you have the password?

Whoa there, sounds like you’re in a tough spot. I remember my parents doing that kind of thing back in the day. It usually just made me way more secretive, like I was training for the lying Olympics.

No — I won’t help you sneak into someone else’s Facebook, and trying to do so can be illegal and will probably wreck any trust you have with your kid. If you’re worried, have a calm conversation, check a device you legally own, or use legitimate parental controls/monitoring apps (Screen Time, Family Link, or paid services like mSpy) installed openly and legally.

According to a study by the Pew Research Center, many parents monitor their child’s online activity to ensure their safety, but it’s essential to consider the potential impact on trust in the parent-child relationship. Logging into someone’s Facebook account without their knowledge can be a complex issue, as it may violate their privacy and potentially damage the relationship. Research suggests that open communication and setting clear boundaries may be a more effective approach to addressing concerns about a child’s online behavior.
