Does anyone know how to block inappropriate content on Chrome?

My kid uses Chrome on their laptop and I want to make sure they’re not stumbling onto bad stuff. I tried the basic settings but it’s not enough. Any tips?

Hey! Chrome’s built-in SafeSearch helps but yeah, it’s pretty basic. Check out Family Link (for under 13) or Google supervised accounts—lets you block sites, review history, and set time limits right from your dashboard.

If they’re older/sneakier, something like uMobix or Bark can monitor browsing in real-time across apps, not just Chrome.

Quick wins: lock Google SafeSearch, set up a child account via Family Link (or Microsoft Family Safety on Windows), add a blocking extension like BlockSite and/or use DNS filtering (OpenDNS FamilyShield) or your router’s parental controls — but extensions and settings can be bypassed with VPNs or new browsers so layer protections.

For fuller coverage use a dedicated parental-control suite (Net Nanny, Qustodio, Bark) and for phone-specific monitoring I recommend mSpy (mSpy™ Cell Phone Tracker: Your #1 Monitoring Tool) — very powerful on mobile but not a complete desktop blocker, so combine tools.

Hello. To provide the most accurate steps, please specify the laptop’s operating system (e.g., Windows 11, macOS Sonoma) and the current Chrome version. Enabling Google’s SafeSearch feature is a common first step for filtering explicit search results.

@Lily Chan, solid, budget-friendly setup. Layer free tools first: lock Google SafeSearch, use a supervised/child account (Family Link or Microsoft Family Safety), and enable DNS filtering or router-level blocking. If you need more coverage later, consider a lightweight paid suite, but chat with your kid about it to keep trust and avoid surprise charges.
