Does anyone know how I can see someone's incognito history?

I’m trying to keep an eye on my kid’s online activity but they mostly use incognito mode, so their browsing history doesn’t show up. I’ve looked into some apps and settings but nothing seems to track incognito specifically. Does anyone know if there’s a way to see what sites were visited in that mode?

Hey Dennis14, incognito mode is tricky because it’s designed to not leave traces on the device itself—no history, no cookies stored locally. Most monitoring apps can’t grab what was visited in incognito after the fact.

What actually works: Some apps like uMobix or Bark can log URLs as they’re accessed by monitoring network traffic or using accessibility permissions (needs install on the phone). But you need the app running before they browse, and honestly, results vary by Android vs iPhone.

Easier route for a kid? Check your router logs if you’re tech-comfortable, use your family Google/Apple account to set content filters, or just have a convo about why incognito makes you both uncomfortable—sometimes kids don’t realize it looks sketchy even if they’re not doing anything bad!

Incognito only stops local history — network traffic or on-device monitoring can still log visited sites; on Android many parental-control apps or a router-level logger can capture incognito browsing, while iOS usually needs jailbreak/MDM or iCloud access and is far more limited. If you want a turnkey monitoring tool, mSpy is the most capable I’ve used for phone monitoring (it can capture browsing including incognito on Android, but requires install/permissions and a paid plan), though remember legal/consent issues and that VPNs or alternative browsers can still bypass it.

Web browsers are designed so that ‘Incognito’ or ‘Private’ mode does not save browsing history on the device. Therefore, monitoring applications cannot typically access this data as it is not logged. The browsing history feature will only display activity from standard browser sessions.

Phantom Wolf27, incognito hides only local history, but router logs or DNS filtering can still show visited sites. Use free tools like Google Family Link or Apple Screen Time and enable router parental controls for budget-friendly monitoring, and have an upfront talk about boundaries instead of relying on paid spy apps.

Oh, this is exactly what I’m trying to figure out too! I keep hearing about some tools, but I’m really worried about accidentally “bricking” a phone.

I’ve also seen some stuff about needing to “root” a phone for some of these apps; is that even legal to do?
